So today I finally found out what guy who is harassing me (from now on we will call him Gerald) is so upset about. When we made the deal I explained to him that I had paid for a couple of months of hosting and that I would be happy to leave the site on my server for the time that I had already paid for. At the time; he agreed to this, but now apparently he thinks I changed the password (to my hosting account which he never had the password for to begin with) in an intricate plot to steal his site. He has informed me in several emails that it is his site and makes sure to remind me that the the domain name of his site is gamedip.com. I am revealing the domain name because I don’t really care about his privacy anymore. Let’s not give him any additional traffic though, under his control traffic has dropped by more than 30%. Here is an example of an email he sent me about the hosting situation.“Hi,
Please change over gamedip hosting to me so I can control my site gamedip.com
Thanks,
Gerold”
Oh I am so sorry! I completely forgot the name of the site I just sold you — until you provided me with a link to it. Thanks! I wasn’t aware that you couldn’t control your site with the domain name, Cp panel user names, and passwords. Sorry, my fault.
Host Gator obviously felt the wrath of this nut job and sent me the following email.
“Gerold has request the change of ownership for the site of gamedip.com In order to have the information processed and moved you will have to email sales@hostgator.com the following information so this can take place. (I removed his information I’m not that mean) You will also need to change the billing information within your billing and allow access to have the password changed. Gerald would like me to forward the message that he would appreciate you to comply with this as to not make issues worse with legal action filed against you. This is just a forwarded message and not something brought by the company. Once more you can email sales@hostgator.com to assist you with the change.”
Well, at least he hasn’t sent his FBI agents after me yet. Tomorrow I will cancel the hosting I paid for and hopefully the site will be down. Oh yeah one last thing, when he changed his Adsense codes he accidentally left some banners, so I am still making money from the site. I was going to tell him, but then I forgot. Maybe someday I will send him a link to this site just to see his reaction. Not that it matters, I don’t think anyone even reads my posts since they suck and no one but tommmm comments on them. Thanks tommm, you are awesome (seriously).

Something seems amiss here. Me thinks you do protest to much. I am wondering what the other side of the story is here. I’ve bought and sold many, many sites and rarely does the hosting company get involved. The only times I’ve ever seen that happen is when the previous owner has done something illegal, inappropriate, or scammy. Hmmm

I explained everything that happened. How is anything I have done illegal or scammy?

Well for starters, like I said - 2 sides to every story — but in your “article” you state: “When we made the deal I explained to him that I had paid for a couple of months of hosting and that I would be happy to leave the site on my server for the time that I had already paid for” — and then you say after that — “(to my hosting account which he never had the password for to begin with)” — So, if you left the site on host gator - “your server”, but you didn’t provide access to this site through the hosting panel, then how the heck was he supposed to administer the site. That is just plain wrong! You don’t continue hosting a site for someone and not give them control of it from the hosting panel. You either create a new hosting site for them from your panel and give them new credentials, or if you don’t have this kind of ability and are doing a single account, then it is common courtesy to transfer the existing account to them or have them move it to another server. You don’t deny them access to the panel. There is no possible way to control the site, its function etc with out basic access like this. So, if that is the case, no wonder he was getting a bit bent. That is the scammy part. I have hosted with Host Gator in the past and they are a great company — one of the reasons is they stay out of people’s businesses and accounts, so if they stepped in, I have no doubts that things were not above board. So, like I said, I think you created your own problems here and the other side of the story would be interesting to hear. Seems like you want to use the power of the press to drag some unfortunate soul through the mud without his ability to dispute!
